MY SKINCARE ROUTINE

Image of skincare products

My skincare routine has changed a bit lately to deal with a couple of things. I’m not outside as much at the moment and thanks to things like central heating, my rosacea is having so much fun with my face. I also find that being indoors is making my skin more dehydrated. It tends to get dry around my cheeks and forehead, but this is more profound right now. I’ve also run out of Retinol (I use products from the Image Skincare MD range which are more potent and need to be purchased with some guidance from a skin care specialist). So let’s start with daytime.

CLEANSE & MOISTURISE

I use two different facial washes, both my Image Skincare but right now I am sticking to the Ormedic Balancing Facial Cleanser which not only removes make up, but your skin feels so clean after it. It softens the skin and really hydrates while cleansing. I apply this to damp skin, foam up then rinse with a muslin cloth. If you like to remove your make up first prior to a facial wash, then try Elemis Pro Collagen Rose Cleansing Balm, it’s a divine product.

In the morning time, I don’t use a serum, instead I alternate between two moisturisers. The first is a long term favourite of mine also from Image; the Daily Matte Moisturiser has an SPF in it (very important) and gives the most incredible all day hydration. My skin tends to break out a bit when it’s dehydrated and I recently discovered this wondrous product from La Roche Posay – the Effaclar SPF 30. This is designed to address a break out, unclogs pores and acts as a corrector. I really love this and it’s also very affordable.

For my eyes I use two different products – for daytime I am addicted to the Sunday Riley Auto Correct – it brightens instantly and if you have tired eyes, you will notice how it just fixes the dullness so easily. You only need a tiny amount so it lasts a long time.

CLEANSE, TONE, SERUM

At night I add in a step after cleansing. Only recently have I gone back to using a toner, I hadn’t used one for years. But, I was sent the Ole Henricksen Glow2OH™ Dark Spot Toner is designed to deal with pigmentation but it also works on improving skin texture. You need to give this a week before you see changes, but it’s a great product and again very affordable for premium skincare. In Ireland, it’s also stocked at Boots.

At night, serums come into play for me. As I mentioned above, I am out of retinol, and right now it’s not easy to replace it so I decided to use up what I have in terms of serums and from a lot of use, I decided that the Allies of Skin Mandelic Pigmentation corrector night serum is super. I wake up in the morning and my skin is so hydrated and over time, it is evening quite a bit. If I want to take a break from these acid based serums, I use one of my all time favourite products, the La Mer Concentrate. Now, this is a big investment, but it does last a long time and comes in various sizes too. I find it excellent for dealing with any redness on my face, or after a face mask or scrub. It’s so soothing.

My second eye product is one of the best I’ve ever used and it’s the Kiehl’s Powerful Strength Line Reducing Vitamin C eye cream. This sends dark circles to hell, and when I wake up I feel like it’s had time to work with it’s super anti ageing super powers, hence why I use this at night.

I hope this gives you an insight into how I look after my skin and it’s ever changing texture!
