LORNA’S LIST JULY 5th 2019

Hows’ the weather where you are? It’s super here! I’ve had some outdoor time with my laptop which has made me very happy. So what’s been happening since last week’s post? Right, here we go with this week’s Lorna’s List.

JO MALONE LONDON & PIETA HOUSE

I was kindly invited by Jo Malone London to a breakfast in Brown Thomas this week to celebrate the launch of their charity partnership with Pieta House. A beautiful Ivy of the The Garden candle has been created, the proceeds from the sale of this, will go to support the Resilience Programme offered in schools by the charity. The idea behind the programme is to help children learn to open up about things that may be bothering them, and to encourage them to talk. So far, the programme has been a resounding success with some testimonials from the participants saying it has changed their attitude and in some cases, their lives. The candle is now available at Brown Thomas Dublin.

CELINE DION AT COUTURE WEEK

Like, I have no words. She is rocking the style. From an almost transparent dress at Iris Van Harpen to wearing ‘that’ heart shaped stone with a head to toe Vetements look, Celine Dion owns fashion right now. Give her all the awards. Vogue have a big gallery of all the looks here.

POPPY POWER AT RIVER ISLAND

River Island have added to their current collection a small range of dresses that embody the prettiest of field flowers, the poppy! The cuts of the pieces are flattering, and if the dresses are not your thing, there is a staple top that will look cute with jeans and sandals. I’m loving these and I reckon you can dress them up a million ways as well. Think beyond this summer and keep for next year too, these will never date.

HANDY COMPACTS

My sister has a phrase that always cracks me up, “handy as a small pot”. Well the latest addition to the Lancome range is certainly that. I put the new palette, which is a collaboration with super-blogger Chiara Ferragni to the test as I was out and about. It contains eye, lip, contour and highlighter products all in one with two small brushes to save you bringing extra. The pigments are good, and the lips especially can be mixed to create a shade you like. The packaging is gorge too. This one is available at Brown Thomas and Arnotts right now and the RRP is €70.

CREATE AT BROWN THOMAS DUBLIN

It’s amazing to see Irish designers do well both here and abroad. Any launchpad that ignites this is worth a mention and none so much as Create at Brown Thomas Dublin which I had a sneak look at this week. 33 designers from around Ireland are showcasing their collections, which are also for sale, for the next six weeks. As well as fashion, there are also homeware designers on the 4th floor. Some of my favourites are Katie-Ann McGuigan, Jill and Gill, Una Burke and Aoife Harrison. If you are in the area pop in and take a look.

TREAT YOURSELF

I love a spa day and actually I haven’t had one in a while…Next on my list is the Bellevue Spa at the Montenotte Hotel in Cork which I stayed in recently for work. It’s really lovely with the most amazing views over Cork city too. They have just launched a whole new range of treatments at the spa which include a Skin Solution treatment for €85 that treats ageing, pigmentation and acne. I’m very excited to visit so I shall report back.

I hope you are enjoying Lorna’s List. All suggestions can be mailed to in**@st*******.ie
