STYLE ADVICE MY FAVOURITE JEANS

On nearly every Instagram Q&A I do I am asked to recommend jeans or say what my favourite jeans are. It’s a staple that we all love; jeans match everything. They come in so many cuts and colours. And one of the best things – you just cannot beat “jeans and a nice top” as the outfit solution for every occasion. In terms of trends, shapes change, but the general look of denim remains timeless and unchanged.

I wish I had invented blue jeans. They have expression, modesty, sex appeal, simplicity – all I hope for in my clothes

Each season I do try and experiment with different cuts and brands, but there are a few that I keep coming back to. Old reliables are the best and never fail. One of the reasons I like the jeans I am sharing below is that season upon season, they are always the same. It’s just a case of replacing them whenever you need some new ones. You don’t even need to try them on. Now, in terms of spend and quality, the premium brands are great yes, but some of the high street brands have been getting the balance right for some time that they have become my first choice of jeans.

As well as design, there’s the manufacturing element to it as well. As we are in more conscious an era when it comes to sustainability as well as a time when budgets are at the fore front of our minds, it’s good news that the larger high street brands are working towards better manufacturing techniques. Online shopping giant, Zalando, have a whole page dedicated to shopping just sustainable denim – you can see which brands are producing jeans in a conscious way, such as Levi’s, Wrangler, Only, Weekday, Lindex, Monki. One of my picks included below is the Lee Scarlet which is made from 100% Organic Cotton.
