Due to the holiday I decided to take (bad timing) I missed the fabulous preview of Louise Kenndy’s Autumn Winter collection 2011. This collection epitomises sheer elegance and reminds me of 1940s Dublin – you had to wear a head piece and gloves and sophistication was the only acceptable trait in a woman. I love that this season we have taken a step back in time to glamour and some of Louise’s design counterparts have swayed the same way. The collection embraces feminity in its truest form with the combination of rich luxe tones and beautifully crafted pieces.
Celebrating the decadent lifestyle of artist and fashion icon Tamara De Lempika, the collection’s alluring elegance is evident in the sumptuous fabrics and luxurious colour palette featured throughout.
Kennedy’s newest collection offers rich textured fabrics including soft double-faced cashmeres, black lurex tweeds, French lace, super-luxe fully-beaded silks and deluxe velvet, which sit with her staple jersey and wool crepe fabrics beautifully. The mesmerizing array of deep gem shades of sapphire, emerald, amethyst and ruby, punctuate and shimmer against a palette of blue-blacks, making a statement of effortless elegance this winter season. The collection’s intricate pearl and gemstone detailing is a testament to the designer’s impeccable attention to detail.
