There are plenty of trends to choose from, so much so, we might get a little confused this coming season. Autumn Winter Fashion Trends 2013 is certainly a highly searched topic, and one of my favourites is grunge. I didn’t think I would return to my teenage years but I find myself re-exploring all those days when I loved a good parka, I “spray” dyed my many black canvas bags with bleach, Dr. Marten’s were the only shoe of choice and I had pink hair. Now I am not going to reignite all this, no, but grunge is set to take over and the high street are leading the way. My top picks for getting this look right are New Look and Penneys who have created affordable and funky fashion.
“It’s from Penneys”
Plaid shirts, studded PU, mesh stockings, tartan skirts and biker jackets worn in laid-back, rebellious style make up Highland Grunge – a trend that takes a hint of punk, adds rock and mixes in some heavy metal to re-invent the glam rock vibes of decades past. Flannel checked bomber jackets with PU trims are worn oversized with slogan print t-shirts and ripped boyfriend jeans for those seeking the ultimate in this relaxed, defiant style. The key to the look is a tartan contrast collar babydoll dress, feminine in shape but worn with chunky biker boots this piece epitomises the edgy attitude required for this key trend, worn by yours truly in my latest column in Notion!
A MASH-UP of hard-edged embellishment, bold print and tough texture gives ‘Grunge’ a cool, carefree confidence. Leather pencil skirts, fishnet tights and distressed biker jackets give a harsh twist to feminine ditsy print dresses and oversized check shirts. Fur trimmed canvas parkas, textured cardigans and graphic print tees keep things casual and edgy. The colour palette is muted, lifted by florals and checks that are thrown into the mix.
So will Autumn Winter Fashion Trends 2013 be one of your most searched topics? My guess is yes!
