Of all the trends I have styled I never know how to wear stripes in a way that suits my body. My body has changed so much over the last year with my fitness routine, it’s like starting all over again sometimes. But the stripes will not defeat me! I’ve teamed up with Karen Millen this week to show you how to wear stripes, my way.
I think a vertical stripe is the best way to start. They glide downwards to create length not width, and this top is perfect thanks to it’s cinched in waist with a tie. It means the stripes get some definition. The bardot style is good with a stripe so it’s not too close to my face, and I have to emphasise how good this one is, as it has elasticated sides so it doesn’t budge. Even with boobs.
I like to keep details to the top half of my body and the same goes for stripes, so I am sticking to skinny jeans. You may not be able to see it but these have piping down the front which complements the stripe too. And they make my legs look super long and I won’t say no to that! (Thanks to my photographer Brid for that too!) Since I am on a monochrome buzz this year, I’ve also styled this look with some shoe boots (aren’t they divine and before you ask they are comfortable). There is a little ruffle detail along the side too.
So in a way I have figured out how to wear stripes without adding width or making eyes go wonky. The outfit below is now available at Karen Millen!
