Ok so it’s sunny outside for once, so no better Tuesday than today to talk about shorts and how to wear them. You might have read a piece I wrote about summer style in Notion Magazine last year, and how I am not a fan of short-shorts (basically I saw too much bum on show last summer that I decided I was to hate them forever). But this season is slightly different. Styles have changed, are longer, and more classic. With a longer length comes multiple styling options for dressy and casual wear so fear not, I have some solutions for you!
Oh my shorts!
Let’s start with the print (1) from Dorothy Perkins which comes with a matching top. This outfit can be worn separately too so it makes for a good summer wardrobe investment. Plus the shorts are not too short, and have a nice dressy feel to them for a perfect outfit for hot summer evenings. Print is a great statement and even with the plainest of tops they do all the work for you (2). Longer styles are the most versatile I think, and River Island know how to do this (3). You can style these with a crop top or string vest and some strappy sandals to make them more dressy. There is no doubt the white is the shade of the season (5&6) which can work with any bright colour. But if you like something more sporty, opt for a sportswear brand like Adidas at Topshop for you running gear (4).
