My skin is the bane of my existence sometimes. My face is combination but the rest of my body is like a desert that cannot find the oasis. It sounds poetic, but it’s not. It gets itchy, and I have the yuk problem of keratosis (those tiny little bumps under your skin that I get on my arms). But over the last few months I have been trying and testing some products to help rid, or at least manage, the problem. Thanks to delightful environmental factors, our skin come under pressure to respond. But sometimes they need some help. So I’ve compiled my top products for sensitive skin from the many, many I have tested so far in 2017.
Designed for keratosis this is a soothing, highly hydrating body cream. It has some powerful ingredients such as salicylic acid to help with the scaliness (yep, fish like) and lactic acid to help hydrate. This is absorbed quickly which I always look for and it isn’t sticky which I have found with most body creams which treat the same issue. I like what Avéne are about as a brand, with a focus on nourishment thanks to it’s thermal water which I think most beauty fans know of. If this one isn’t for you the Cold Cream range is also great and I’ve tried that one as well! You can buy it on Escentual who carry the whole range.
This is miraculous stuff and was introduced to me via my girls at Renew Clinic (who just won an Image Business of Beauty Award!) and you know by now that I trust them in every recommendation they give me. Oh you can read about my skin journey with them here. I have become a fan of retinol but it’s good to take a break from this as it can be drying. So this little gem of a gel is what you need for those other times. I apply this after cleansing; you need just one drop to cover your whole face and it dries instantly. Your skin will feel super soft and hydrated. Since I have super sensitive skin on my face this is all I need! It’s worth the investment if you ask me! One of my top products for sensitive skin. Ever.
Image SkinCare Daily Matte Moisturiser SPF 32
I actually have been using this for over a year now as my daily moisturiser and it’s one of the best I’ve ever used. Now, it does have a bit of an odd smell (kind of a mix of suncream and dessert) but you become immune to it once you use it. As I am a fan of peels and IPL I HAVE to use an SPF to protect my skin. Skin damage is a hot topic, and I am no expert but I know it’s not good for us over our lifetime. My skin is so pale that factor 30 is the norm for me. As someone with adult acne, or at least the leftovers of it, this is non-negotiable. It’s not greasy or oily and hydrates perfectly.
Are your lips really dry? Do they crack? Yep? Mine do, and I can never seem to get them smooth. They are so sensitive to the elements that they can really hurt. Liz Earle’s new super balm is new to the market, and it does all the conditioning you need. It’s not sticky (V. Important!) and the oils are sucked up by your lips almost instantly. Dragon’s blood extract, argan oil and shea butter to help protect against dryness. I love this product and you don’t need a lot of it to last all day. €19 is a lot for a lip balm but it will last ages.
Benefit Bathina Silky & Seductive Body Oil Mist
I had to put something a little luxurious in right? This is such a delightful product and you might be familiar with the Bathina range already, but for those who don’t like a heavy or rich product on their skin then this mist is the one for you. It’s so hydrating and I found my shoulders and back benefited (pun intended!) the most with this. If you want to treat yourself then get this one or add it to your wish list. Benefit has spread all over Ireland now so it’s very easy to get! But here’s the link if you want it now!
