Moss Bros – making menswear into womenswear

Moss Bros – making menswear into womenswear

I love a good tux jacket. Now I mean on me, and not necessarily on the man in my life. Although he looks good in one too. Sorry, straying off the point. I recently went to Belfast with the famous menswear brand and tailor, Moss Bros who have long been a strong name in menswear. They have just opened a beautiful new store in the heart of Belfast and I had the pleasure of being a guest at the opening.…

An afternoon with Jeremy Hackett

An afternoon with Jeremy Hackett

Nothing beats a good chat with someone who knows how to dress. And not just themselves. I mean humans. Jeremy Hackett is a fascinating person. His iconic British brand, Hackett, is a pioneer in menswear across the world. In Ireland, its South Anne Street store in Dublin is a form of escapism. From a bustling street you step onto a pristinely tiled floor and you are whisked away to a land full of exquisite tailoring and contemporary menswear. “I would…

River Island AW13. It’s gonna be awesome.

River Island AW13. It’s gonna be awesome.

I’m not really a fan of the word awesome, but I cannot find another word which describes my fashion-love for the new Autumn Winter collection from River Island. Showcased to the press yesterday, it’s full of awesome textures, awesome shapes, awesome fabrics and just lot’s of awesomeness. Now I am making up words. Sorry, I’m tired. Taking inspiration from what seems to be the lovechild of Dries Van Noten and Jenna Lyons, clashing is the key trend. Luxurious sweatshirts (not…

River Island, where fashion meets film.

River Island, where fashion meets film.

I really applaud River Island for their entrepreneurship, and they support of up and coming talent in the fashion industry. As part of LCM over the weekend, the brand launched their latest fashion/film collaboration with T. Lipop and Dazed & Confused. The film is spectacular, and sees a new era for high street brands to embrace the beauty of the motion picture.   Above, Behind the Scenes image from the making of the film.

Hackett Hackett is one big…

Collective Noun

Collective Noun

I very rarely post about menswear but after the London Collections, I have to say I was just a little bit inspired. Tailoring and snappy dressing are indicative of the contemporary gentleman and I think he’s becoming more and more fashion focused of late. How could he not? There are so many tailors and design houses, along with the high street, making it easier. To help with the shopping boys, I came across this great label called Collective Noun. The…

London Collections: Menswear

London Collections: Menswear

I have never been compelled to attend the Menswear London Collections, but having done some research since Day One and surveying the collections themselves, I feel myself displaying a sense of regret. Tailoring at its finest, quirky looks which you question in terms of practicality and the odd TV star making a catwalk debut. Lou Dalton went for a sporty look fro Spring Summer 2013 with lot’s of panelling and playing with fabrics, I liked the fun this collection brought…
