Draping jackets

Draping jackets

There is a new trend appearing on our fashionable streets. No longer are jackets of all kinds suitable for wearing, no. It’s all about the drape. Anyone who is anyone is wearing their ensemble, completed with this symbol of elegance. Now I am a fan as you can see from the photo below taken at fashion week, but my only concern is the practicality, the jacket falls off (it’s not like you can attach it with safety pins) and we…

The fashion tour

Amidst the mania of actually trying to finish my work so I could go to London Fashion Week, I am currently writing this aboard a plane from Milan back to Dublin after one hell of a week that is now almost over. At one point, I did actually worry that I had taken on too much over my favourite time of year (which I sometimes compare to Christmas) but too many opportunities came my way that I could not possibly…

Christopher Kane teams up with Tigi!

This is pretty cool I have to say. Christopher Kane has teamed up with hair care brand Tigi for Autumn Winter, to design this awesome hairband. Taking influences from his AW 2012 collection, he uses accents of leather as a nod to attitude, something that his collections exude season upon season. Christopher and Tigi have long been friends through his use of the iconic products at London Fashion Week or to produce his lookbooks. Watch out for these next season!

File: A look at what is to come from Zoe!

At the start of this season, I had the pleasure of doing a review of Zoe Jordan’s latest collection. And last week, I was doubly honoured to get a super seat at Zoe’s salon show previewing her Autumn/Winter collection. Sitting behind Jameela Jamill and Holly Valance, I had a prime second row seat where I got up close and personal with this fabulously wearable collection. Zoe’s use of wool was astounding, and with her inspiration coming from a childhood spent…

Notes: LFW round up – Vivienne Westwood

This season Dame Vivienne took her Red Label back time to an era of tailoring, clean lines, capes, prints, jacards, her iconic tartan and lot’s and lot’s of wool. Staying true to her belief in supporting amazing causes, this show supported the Environmental Justice Foundation’s (EJF) ‘No Place Like Home’ campaign for climate refugees. “The t-shirts I designed, seen in the show, support the campaign to raise awareness of the plight of people who have been forced from their homes…

Notes: LFW Day 1: The round up

It’s 4.30pm and I have buried myself in the press room at Somerset House to gather my thoughts and finally sit down with a coffee and get some notes into the blog. Having had a great breakfast meeting with the lovely ladies from The Outnet in the Riding Bank Cafe off Oxford Street, I jumped on the Bakerloo line to take me all the way to the hub of all things style for the next five days. Rendevousing with my…

A new season’s scent

A new season’s scent

I go weak for a good perfume and I have been on the look out for a new scent for Autumn/winter. I like to change my fragrance each season for some reason, just to enforce the change in my wardrobe. And so while researching a post on perfume, I happened to come across fashion designer Verónica Moncho Lobo who used London Fashion Week as a means to launch her new scent, aptly named Verónica. Verónica is well known for her beautiful boutique on…

LFW – the day one review

LFW – the day one review

So Day one is done and the trends are actually hard to identify, but I will say that peachy tones and acquamarine are starting to become apparent. Here’s the lowdown! Paul Costello Paul never disappoints me in terms of feminity. But what is different this year is the edginess he has introduced and it’s quite refreshing. The show opened with beige tones and progressed to grey, white, peach and a dash of monochrome for good measure. In true Paul style,…

I got the keys

I got the keys

I have been looking around for some accessory ideas to take with me to London Fashion Week and today this very cool piece from Accessorize (€20) caught my eye. With layers of keys in all styles, I reckon this could be a funky piece over a t-shirt and finished off with black leather jacket. And speaking of that, I put a call out on twitter yesterday for suggestions on where to get my hands said jacket and I was overwhelmed…
