This month, I chat to not one but two styleisle-cons! Ireland AM presenter, Anna Daly, and model Nadia Forde are brand ambassadors for SEAT Ireland and know a little thing or two when it comes to style!
Where do you like to shop?
Anna: At the moment I’m 6.5 months pregnant so my shopping patterns have changed a little! I’m loving Mothercare’s maternity range at the moment especially their M2B range which is really wearable, trendy and very affordable. They even have distressed faded jeans with the lovely soft paneling on the top that stretches with your bump and feels cosy and comfy! Comfort is key at the moment – oh how your priorities change eh!
Nadia: I love to shop on the high street in Topshop, River Island and of course Penneys! I also love Reiss as it’s great for classic pieces and I always find something in there that I like.
Describe your style!
Anna: My style changes depending on the job to hand. Doing Ireland AM in studio I tend to be a little more dressy with heels and dresses. When filming on location I’m a little more laid back in jeans and heels with plenty of block colours. Detailed designs or prints don’t tend to work that well on camera. Then because there’s a bit of effort that goes in to your on-air wardrobe it’s nice to dress down at weekends in jeans and uggs and a t-shirt. When my friends are dressing up at weekends, I’m dressing down!
Nadia: It’s always changing! I like to mix trends, I love simple things that really make an outfit work, but I’m still working on figuring my own personal style out!
If you could have any item of clothing what would it be?
Anna: It would have to be a Jenny Packham evening dress. I wore Jenny Packham for my wedding day and I adored the dress. Her designs are beautifully put together, the fabrics are so luxurious and you feel a million dollars wearing them. I can’t imagine I’ll be splashing out any time soon but one can always dream!

Nadia: That would have to be a leather jacket I bought by All Saints. I’ve had it about 3 years now and I love it. It just goes with everything!
Who are your style icons?
Anna: I’ve a real admiration for Alexa Chung’s style although I’m not sure anyone can do ‘geek chic’ the way Alexa can! I often site Cat Deeley as my style icon because without looking like she’s tried too hard, she always looks fab. I’m not a fan of the over styled look.
Nadia: Definitely Cheryl Cole, I love how she’s not afraid to change her style and try something daring. All the Kardashian sisters – I want their wardrobes! Kate Moss always has the perfect mix of vintage, high street and designer in her outfits. And of course Rachel Zoe, she has such a great bohemian style and can transform an outfit with simple accessories.
What is your favourite piece in your wardrobe at the mo?
Anna: A plain black maxi dress from Mothercare. That’s not the answer I would have given this time last year but given my current circumstances, it’s a classic piece that will be worn time and time again during my pregnancy. It’s like a full length vest, it’s a flattering shape and can be worn dressed up or down. The handiest piece in my wardrobe by far!
Nadia: I really want a new handbag…but what girl doesn’t! I also need to get a new pair of over the knee boots for winter. I really regret not being able to get a pair last year so I have to find the perfect pair for this one!
What is your favourite fashion trend for this season?
Anna: I’m very relieved that maxi dresses are still fashionable for obvious reasons! The bold, bright colours that are gracing all the catwalks this season are a breath of fresh air too.
I’m loving the return of leopard print, it never seems to go out of style. Just a touch is enough though too much and I think it’s overkill!I really like coral tones that are in at the moment too, it’s a really pretty, summery colour. The other look that I love at the moment is the seventies style that’s all in, I love the high waisted jeans and wide brimmed hats – I really want to get one for summer!
Are there any styles / trends you don’t like?
Anna: I think there’s probably too many people wearing jumpsuits that don’t suit them, it’s one trend you have to exercise extreme caution with!! If you don’t feel comfortable in it, it probably isn’t working. Someone who looks comfortable and happy in their clothes tends to exude a certain confidence and as a result look great.
Nadia: I don’t really like the cropped tops that are in at the moment, I don’t really think they flatter any figure!
