London is like a second home to me, and whether it’s for work or play, I love staying in nice places. Look, who doesn’t? Last week I was invited to stay at the beautiful location that is Leman Locke. Now this is no ordinary hotel. Imagine you were away on business Monday to Friday for several months; the whole staying in a hotel thing could get a bit tedious. Having to eat hotel breakfast, eat in restaurants every night of the week and spending your evening’s in a small room with only your bed and a small chair for relaxing. Urgh. Well, the clever people at Locke Living are changing how we seek short to long term accommodation.
Their London property is 22 storeys high overlooking the City of London and houses 168 small apartments, which, as they say themselves are “designed for travellers who for whom a bed and shower in a shoebox isn’t enough”. The centre of the room is an l-shaped couch which was the perfect thing to see after a long day on my feet around London (my shoe choice had a lot to do with that). The apartment I stayed in on the 21st floor had a small but functional kitchen with every modern appliance possible; it even had the Hotpoint kettle I’m after for Christmas. I was provided with coffee, tea and a little carton of milk to get me going. You can see why I loved it right? The wifi is fast enough for this blogger and her high resolution image uploads, something most hotels can’t cope with.
You can judge a lot about a hotel from it’s shower, well that’s my theory. And the shower in my room was like standing under refreshing rain. Therapeutic and practical!
Getting to Leman Locke couldn’t be easier; it’s right across the road from Aldgate East Tube station, so if you are based in the City or financial districts this is ideal. And London isn’t it’s only location; Locke Living also have an aparthotel in Edinburgh, with plenty more expansion to come (check out their instagram page).
