I’ve been reading a lot about the buckle in nearly every magazine this week from Grazia to Look. It’s definitely the shoe trend of the Spring, and for some reason it reminds me of my primary school shoes. But, thankfully, the styles coming onto the shop floors over the next few months are much improved since those I used to wear in the early Eighties. I think these are shoes that I will be wearing with frayed jeans and long line jackets this season. And another point working in their favour is that you don’t have to opt for the heel of the sky high variety. Topshop, Next and See by Chloe are all champions of the midi heel so your feet don’t have to suffer as a result of height. But if you want to add these to your night time attire, then Carvela and Dune have some fabulous stilettos. Now the humble buckle doesn’t need to be a thin strap either, if you prefer something with more support, then one thicker buckle and strap will give you much more support. I find my feet tend to slip in sandals so I think the See by Chloe pair will be the ones for me.
