Spring is such a great time to re-evaluate everything. And I have been doing just that. I did a wardrobe declutter and decided to take a ruthless approach to what I kept or donated to the charity shop. It took a while but I have so much room now and I am left with the pieces I really wear all the time. Less is definitely more. I did find that I am keen on shirts and now that the weather is thankfully getting a little milder, we can start to wear lighter fabrics. Spring Shirting is a phrase you will hear a lot, or even read a lot in magazines over the next month. Shirts provide that easy breezy style that we covet; it’s minimal but detailing comes in through prints and textures. I always think of Emmanuelle Alt (Vogue France editor) and how she always look chic in a denim shirt and black jeans. Well I am copying her style for this look which is from Oasis.
The cotton in this Floral Shirt is light with an unstructured shape which is balanced by the cropped skinny jeans. This style is called Isabella and is a cropped skinny with a zip at the end. These are great for summer thanks to the shorter length so style them up with sandals. My legs are long so I always fear that they will be too short, but I just about get away with this look. This is probably the girliest look I have right now; I can’t say when I last wore nude heels but I just adore these ones. They are so comfy and honestly they match everything. Back in 2003 I was on my J1 in the US and I worked in a shoe shop all summer (heaven I know!). I remember Judy, who owned the shop telling me nude shoes were the most important footwear you could have because they would never let you down. This is something I pass onto any styling clients, and I have definitely said it once or twice on Xposé! Take a look at how I styled this outfit, and do let me know if you have any shirt questions in the comments below!
