New fragrances for 2013, what I want to smell like.

Choosing a fragrance is always tough, and the huge choice we now have from designers to celebrities is overwhelming. So I have some help for you, to assist with choosing the best new fragrances for 2013. Since I started writing about beauty, I have been delighted to review some great scents, from the fruity to the woody. But first, some tips for choosing the best fragrance which suits your preferences. Ask yourself what you like the smell of; flowers, fruit, herbs, spices, and narrow down the ones you love most. For me, I have a soft spot for jasmine and I also like musk. An easy tip and guide, is shower gel. Check the ingredients of your favourite shower gel and this will help too. What about day and night; do you like to wear the same scent at work as you do when you go out? I know I don’t; I like something sweet for daytime, and a little more musky for night time. Once you have those questions answered, it’s time to look to brands, and I’ve reviewed a small selection for you! Happy reading! (and smelling!)

Exotic Jasmine, by Halle Berry

I know right? Halle Berry isn’t the first point of call for most people when choosing a new scent. But Halle has a beautiful new fragrance out on September 1st called Exotic Jasmine. This floral scent embodies Halle’s femininity and she says herself the final blend is the perfect representation of the person she is today. The star note, jasmine, is complimented with a backdrop of wood and must, with the top notes being very floral, with violet leaf and Neroli. I’m really liking this  and hence it goes right at the top of my new fragrances for 2013 list! Plus, it will retail at just €19.95/£14.95.

Vanille Narcisse, L’Occitane

Being a sweet scent lover, I instantly fell for this one back in March when I tested it prior to being released on the market. As part of a larger collection of fragrances, Collection de Grasse, it’s inspired by the small French town of Grasse, where the  greatest perfumers in the world learned their skills.  In-house perfumer, Karine Dubreuil, has created fragrances for brands including Guerlain, Gucci, Lanvin, YSL, Mugler as well as big perfume houses such as Mane and Drome. There are plenty more to choose from the in the range, but this scent, full of sweet vanilla is worth a try.
