I love a good lippie, so today I am sharing my top five red lipsticks (you might want one for the weekend!)
Max Factor Marilyn Monroe Collection (as seen in pic above!)
“A slick of red on the lip is one of the easiest, yet most gorgeously dramatic ways of adding glamour”, says world famous make up artist, and Global Creative Design Director of Max Factor, Pat McGrath. She was the ultimate beauty icon and now Marilyn Monroe’s timeless glamour is embodied in the new Max Factor reds collection. Her red lipstick has been engrained in my memory as the most famous look she ever wore, and now we can choose our very own red from this lovely range which is available from February.
2. Rimmel Kate Matte Lipstick
One of the best matte lippies out there it had to be in my top five. The colour is rich but not drying and I find that it lasts ages without having to reapply it. This one, as with a lot of matte lipsticks, needs some liner first to give real definition on the outer rim of your lips. Then it is super easy to fill in. I apply this straight from the bullet to get a deep colour.
3. YSL Rouge Pur Couture
The colour is “1 Rouge” and it’s fabulous. Very similar in texture to the Rimmel one above, it does feel very hydrating on the lips and the range of shades in the collection is very impressive. I love the pigment, it’s what meets my definition of a proper red lipstick. It works so beautifully with a subtle eye, with some black kohl pencil and plenty of mascara. This one is an indulgence, but a great treat!
4. MAC Lady Danger
I cannot talk about my top five red lipsticks without mentioning one of the most famous colours in the land of beauty. Lady Danger was my first premium red lipstick purchase and it lasted an age without drying out. What I love about MAC is the ability to find complementary products so easily. Lip liners to match this get the shade right on colour so you have no mis match on your lips. An oldie, but a very good goodie.
5. Wet n Wild Mega Last lip colour
Wet N Wild has taken Ireland by storm since it launched two years ago, and the fact that is so affordable makes it a great last minute purchase. But, you get a great lipstick for less than €3. Red Velvet is my colour choice, and since I started working with as a Beauty Ambassador in 2014, I’ve found this to be one of the best red lipsticks on the market.
