I sometimes overwhelmed by the amount of beauty products on the market. I never know which ones to choose or which treatments to get if I have something coming up. So I put my thinking cap on in preparation for London Fashion Week to make sure I made the most of the small space in my make up bag, and that I brought the right things (I always forget something). I had a long list but to give you a highlight here are just some of the amazing products I couldn’t live without over fashion week! It’s my makeup must haves 2015!
1. Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Perfectly Satin
I love foundations that are light but don’t budge. And when they are a great colour match, then that’s an added bonus. The new foundation from Elizabeth Arden does all those things. I went for a consultation at Debenhams to check which colour shade I was; this is a great idea so you avoid having your face and neck two different shades. I hate that! The foundation is super easy to blend and you don’t need very much to cover your whole face. The finish is matte but has moisturising properties so it doesn’t look dry. And it lasts 24 hours! Pic above is the proof!
2. Nails by Gelish
I cannot do without my nails being polished and mainly because of working in telly. I always pay a visit to Michele Burke for all my nail needs and before I headed off to London I had a top up of my Gelish to keep my nails in perfect shape. Gelish is a great product; I find it doesn’t chip and for typing especially it’s a little more flexible. Michele is an expert and has some amazing clients like Pippa O’Connor and Vogue Williams. If you want to get your nails in perfect shape, Michele is your lady! Check out her website: Michele Burke Nails
3. Charlotte Tilbury Brow Lift and Rock N Kohl
Oh how I love Charlotte Tilbury, as a person and her make up range. The first of my fashion week must haves is Brow Lift. What makes this amazing is the angle of the pencil. It’s diagonal which means you can apply it to your brows in the direction of the hairs. It’s genius! One end of the brush has the product and the other has a brush which you can use before application. Add to your eyes even more with Rock N Kohl! This is a pencil which has a neutral tone which you can apply to your water line to open up your eyes. This makes your eyes look so bright too! I found over fashion week this was a saviour! In Dublin, Charlotte Tilbury is available at Brown Thomas.
4. Marks and Spencer Autograph Twist up Lips
Lip colour; the final frontier in make up application and albeit the one I love the most. A recent discovery for me was how amazing the Autograph make up collection is. The twist up lip colour is top of the list. In a huge range of colours, it’s moisturising which I have to prioritise on my dry lips. My pick of the colours is Soft Coral which is a great daytime colour as it’s not too bright but has great pink pigment. This is kind of like applying lip colour with a Crayola crayon; meaning that it’s easy and one coat is enough.
5. Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer
The bags under my eyes love this. It literally brightens up your eyes in a matter of seconds. Apply the liquid concealer with a fluffy brush under your eyes and a little at the side and it instantly adds highlight. I wear light-warm which isn’t too pale and works with a yellow-ish skin tone. You don’t need a lot either so a little goes a long way!
So there’s my makeup must haves 2015. I used all of the above for fashion week so you know they’re good!
