It’s the time of year that we are in between seasons, and we might be looking to update our wardrobes, but I find I am looking to update my home too. So I have undertaken some small, home improvements to give it a bit of a refresh.
I’ve trawled Pinterest for inspiration to help with colour schemes, layouts, interiors ideas and so on, and it’s a minefield! But with some TLC, some thought and a little shop around I’ve decided on what I want to do. Aside from painting and some changes that I am planning to do before the summer draws to a close, I have teamed up with Marks & Spencer to choose some nice home furnishings and finishing touches to give some rooms the update I am longing for.
M&S have some beautiful homeware ideas for every room. I decided to start with the living room, and it really is as simple as adding some new cushions (replacing some awful red ones I had!) for soft yellows and patterns. I have a brown sofa so the duty tones give it a lift. I decided to mix and clash my patterns with the Oval Velvet cushions first, and one statement print cushion called The Floral Penny. Even when I glanced at the sofa this morning it looks so much better. I have also dotted some new photo frames that have an Art Deco feel to them for my wedding pictures. The free standing Helmsley Frames are so classic and look quaint on my window sill. I love metal frames as they don’t fade with sun light either.
For the bathroom (for which I am planning a big overhaul) I simply added a new Embosses Soap Dispenser. I usually just leave the soap in its original container, but with my new approach to interiors, I needed something more. The detail on this one caught my eye and I plan on matching my other bathroom accessories to it.
Onto my bedroom, and one thing I need to work on is storage. I have so many shoes and accessories that finding ways to keep them neatly and prettily is a challenge. I’ve started with my jewellery and this Trinket Box has such a vintage feel that I think it will set the tone for the rest of the room. It really takes just one piece to inspire you doesn’t it?
All the above pieces I used at home are from Marks & Spencer and they have a great homeware sale starting today (July 27th) that runs until 3rd August. If you like any of the pieces, you can click on the links which will take you through to the M&S website too. But just in case, here they all are!
