Oh how I wish I could attend the Louis Vuitton Cruise collection show on Saturday. I can’t, so I will have to settle for watching it online. Nevertheless, the show promises to quite the grand affair. Held in the Principality of Monaco, and in the presence of HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco, Nicolas Ghesquière’s second collection for Louis Vuitton will be shown at the Palace Square.

“I am particularly pleased to welcome Louis Vuitton’s Cruise show to Monaco’s Palace Square, and to discover Nicolas Ghesquière’s collection,” says HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco. The strong and lasting ties between the House and the Principality are strengthened by a common vision, as HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco states, “Elegance, beauty and refinement are values shared by the Principality and this prestigious Maison.”

“The first Cruise collection by Nicolas Ghesquière for Louis Vuitton showcases the historical relationship between our Maison and the Principality of Monaco. Louis Vuitton has indeed been tied to the destiny of this legendary rock for many years”, says Michael Burke, Chairman & CEO of Louis Vuitton.

Louis Vuitton first served the Monaco Royal Family in 1904 when the House created a garment cover in crocodile. In 1997, the ‘Le Malicieux’ bag was created in order to celebrate 700 years of the dynasty of Monaco Princes and pay tribute to François Grimaldi, the Cunning, or Le Malicieux, who seized the fortress of Monaco in 1297.
The Louis Vuitton Cruise show will be broadcast live on 17 May at 7pm (CET) on www.louisvuitton.com
