Persil Irish Fashion Awards

Persil Fashion Awards
As the Persil Irish Fashion Awards rolls into it’s 15th year, it is clear to see that they are not slowing down on some superb new ideas! This year the theme is Persil Play Date, the designer’s were given the brief of  designing and making an outfit fit for a messy muddy play date in the park! Especially loving how all the designs have to be durable, machine washable and casual. But why do they have to be all these things? Why not couture play date? Well, because the winner gets along with €10,000, GASP!, they also get their creations made and sold in Dunnes Stores! Amazing!

Peter O’ Brien and Carolyn Donnelly, of Dunnes Stores have been in charge of narrowing down the hundreds of  entries from all the leading design colleges around the country. It’s clear that this year will be just as fantastic as any others with Carolyn saying “ The eight finalists were chosen on the basis of designing well thought out functional and exciting clothes for both mother and child.” They designed to the brief, but in doing so managed to create some really innovative, clever, wearable and washable clothes, truly the mark of a good designer”.
What is really exciting is if you want an up-close look at the finalist’s pieces they will be showcased in Dunnes Stores during the month of September. This comes in addition to seeing the judges crown the rightful winner on Xpose in September! So stay tuned in and keep an ear out; any of them would be the deserving winner! Which is your favourite?
