MY LONDON FASHION WEEK STYLE PART I

MY LONDON FASHION WEEK STYLE PART I

It’s that time of year again. Yep, I am back in London for fashion week and checking out the style for Autumn Winter 2018/19. It’s hard to think that far ahead when Spring hasn’t sprung. But I am embracing colour while I am here to try and get into a lighter mood for the season ahead. The weather has been glorious as my Mum would say, and it’s the ideal time to lighten up the textures and explore some new styling ideas.

One such idea is longer layers. Throughout the winter I loved styling midi skirts and dresses with oversize knits, and I’ve been trying out ways of carrying this into Spring. The answer is duster coats. Penneys have a great selection at the moment, but this mustard one really stood out for me (btw mustard is a huge trend for this season). It’s a scary colour to me given my blonde hair so I balance the colour with my usual palette of black. But, the polka dot in the dress provides a break in the all dark outfit.

This skirt is a great staple for the season which you can also style with t-shirts and trainers when the weather gets warmer. And how amazing is this designer inspired bag? It’s been a saviour for me this past few days fitting everything in it. Cross bodies are staying around as an accessories trend you will be delighted to hear.

London so far has been exciting; I started with Marta Jakobowksi on Friday that showed a new take on tailoring with a nod to Nineties power dressing to a soundtrack of “I’m Every Woman” and “Shy Guy”. Let’s just say you’ll want a teal trouser suit for your work wardrobe next season. Jasper Conran went for a more ethereal approach; fluidity was a common theme with an autumnal palette with brighter greens contrasted with brown. Preen was a highlight for me; they’re usual aesthetic was still clear, but with the addition of contemporary accents like hoods and over size bags.

That’s it for Days One and Two, but more style to follow!
