Who would say no to a couple of hours at a fabulous spa? Not me. So when the Sansana Spa at the Royal Marine Hotel in Dublin asked me to come and visit for a blog post, I had the day and time booked within five minutes of receiving the email. Spending time relaxing in a lovely setting, in the company of a great friend is always a welcome break. And spa time is the perfect time to do it. The Sansana Spa offers lots of treatments, but I opted for a head and shoulder massage, Voya facial and pedicure.
The treatment rooms are spacious and calming; you walk in the room and that lovely spa aroma fills your nostrils and I immediately started to relax. I carry a lot of tension in my shoulders and my therapist, Sarah, had her work cut out for her. But she was fabulous, and my back felt like it was brand new. I like my massages to have firm pressure so every knot melts. Sarah was so knowledgable in massage and she gave me lots of tips on how to care for my muscles. Once I was relaxed and de-stressed, it was onto the facial. I love Voya products, and Sarah did a cleanse first, before applying an enzyme mask to clear out my blocked pores. The facial finished with applying a moisturiser and my skin was fresh and clean.
Onto the pedicure, and my poor feet that get a hard time from me. The pedicure at the Sansana Spa includes a file, cuticle work, file, buff of hard skin, scrub of your feet as well as a leg massage, and finishing with a paint in a colour of your choice. My feet like new after this, and a week on, my skin still feels lovely.
After your treatments you can retire to the thermal suites to relax and re-hydrate. You have lots of choice of relaxation spaces – we went for the heated stone beds which was a lovely welcome on a cold winter’s afternoon. But you can also hop into the rock sauna or cool down under a tropical shower. On a Friday afternoon, the spa had a lovely atmosphere with groups of friends and couples coming in to have some chill out time.
I haven’t had some spa time in a long time, and this experience was nicely paced, and I emerged a new person. I can highly recommend a spa break, or just a couple of hours here to yourself to rejuvenate. The half day package I reviewed costs €139, and takes about two hours. And just in time for Christmas, you can purchase a €100 voucher and get €10 euro off voucher for your next treatment.
