SEEING RED

I’m not usually a wearer of red. It either reminds me of Snow White or Little Red Riding Hood, both of which are childhood heroines and I just can’t live up to the expectations of either in all honesty. But Primark have come out with a shade of red that I can accept on my fair skin. I find that blue-tone reds work better; they have strength which is good on me and if I match them with a print or dark colour, I think they make a match better than Snow and her Prince.

So what’s the trick? I go for tones that I would choose in a lipstick. I avoid the orange tones as they make my teeth look yellow, and who wants that? Richer, opulent colours are perfect. So I use this as the gauge. I also don’t like over size jumpers – but this one strikes a balance. It’s shorter so it lengthens my legs without swamping me in knit. Plus, the zip detail makes it stand out. Sometimes plain wool knit just doesn’t seem chic to me, so I look for small features like a cable knit, the design or even tassels.

I did try this red jumper with the PVC pants (in my You Tube try on here) and I felt the check looked better on me. These are so comfortable and they are a nice departure from my regular denims. I also think these will work at work too if you know what I mean. I might even layer a cream knit over these too to lighten the look. I love a little monochrome so I do.

The boots are a hit -they are a lace up ankle boot that are super car to bar boots, thanks to the sky high heel but they make my legs look skinny and I’ll never turn down that opportunity.

This whole look is in Primark stores now!
