I have less than a month to go until my holiday and I have begun the planning process. I always imagine having the most chic wardrobe while strolling in the sun, but the challenge is always suitcase space. It’s not like I can bring everything. So I am planning a holiday style that can be mixed and matched to make the most of what I pack. Pretty Little Thing have a great holiday shop, where I have chosen key pieces to wear for both day and night when I jet off to Spain. Getting that balance right is hard when you’re packing; you arrive at your holiday spot and realise that you only brought things for night time. How many times have I done that? Well, I’ve lost count.
The Statement Skirt
I like separates to solve this issue. A statement skirt that can be worn with different t-shirts and sandals is one key look that I have been wearing all season (even in rainy Ireland). The check is bright and becomes the central piece in an outfit. So the trick is to let that do all the work, and keep jackets and tops pared back. A white shirt or blouse is a great match. Finish it off with some pretty sandals and you are ready to stroll the promenade.
The Perfect Dress?
A summer dress is essential and since stripes were such a huge trend this year, I had to choose this Blue and White Dress as an all round option. Even at home, I can style this with some ankle boots and leather jacket, or on warmer days a white denim jacket. How cute is the logo on the back? Logos have been such a trend on jackets and t-shirts this summer, and it will stay for Autumn Winter too.
But what shoes should I pack?
Ah, the million dollar question when it comes to packing. You don’t want to bring every pair you own but you always want the ones you didn’t bring. How do we solve this one? My trick is to stick to three pairs. One casual sandal, one flat shoe that can be dressy and casual and a pair of runners.
Pretty Little Thing have a huge selection to choose from and the handy thing is that some pairs come in several colours too. I chose two pairs for these looks; one dressy slider that will work with dresses and jeans, and an edgier style for midi and mini skirts as well as denim cut offs. See? Shoe dilemma be gone.
