THE PERFECT SUMMER DRESS FOR ALL SEASONS

I haven’t been on holidays yet. Sadly I am not one of those people who is lucky enough to be on their sixth trip to the sun this summer; no, June and July are busy for me. Fashion doesn’t stop so neither do I. But it hasn’t stopped me from preparing for my holidays (in six weeks) and my search for the perfect summer dress. Dresses can be so hard to fit. I have big boobs, a small waist and a long torso, so my list of requirements for dress are never straight forward. I need a defined waistline or an empire line, structure and a decent neckline to avoid adding more boob-age. I’ve got enough thanks.

But I found this dream of a dress in Penneys this week that is absolutely coming to Spain with me, but I’m going to wear it now as well. Aside from the fact that I have found the perfect fake tan alongside my perfect summer dress (the tan is Iconic Bronze by the way), I want to have dresses I can wear here as well as on the promenade in Malaga. So we need to make some adjustments. Step in my style solution of all style solutions, a leather jacket. But this one has the prettiest embroidery to balance the edge with the pretty. I love making pretty things look a bit grungy. So I haven’t styled the dress with a pair of heels, I’ve gone for flatform runners. No blisters for me thanks.

I’m awful for not wearing enough colour so I decided this summer to try harder with shades and minimise the dark colours. I’ve found the balance this season and sticking to rich colours that work for my skin tone. To make the perfect summer dress look unpretty, we went to another alleyway in Dublin’s Temple Bar to shoot this look. It’s amazing what locations can do for an outfit, and Brid and I are having the best fun changing up the look of my outfits this way. I’m not into marble backgrounds, white based pictures and vases of flowers; I’m darker. I like dull days in Dublin for this reason. The back streets, the cobbles and the clouds make for my ideal aesthetic. I’ve been working hard on my content this summer to make it more in tune with who I am now. At 35, I want to create my own niche, with a following who respond to how I style and produce my content. That’s the aim of my job. I think it’s working and thank you to all of you for showing the love on my blog, Instagram and all the other places I pop up.
