I have a new found love for metallics, and for this month’s post with Penneys, I have a gem of a metallic to style up. We typically go for a beige, structured style when it comes to trench coats but this season we can change it up a bit. Try softer fabrics so that there is some fluidity to the look. When the Spring breeze catches the cloth, it will billow softly…gosh I should have been a poet.
The key to styling metallics is balance of colour. This jacket is silver, so I want to add in a darker shade without dulling the look so that’s where denim helps. A darker blue, but not indigo, keeps the look seasonal but practical. Then, take a simple white tee to layer to finish it off. Don’t be afraid of adding in some more accents to complement the outfit either. This super cute metallic mini bag is my new favourite accessory and it works well against the softer silver hue. The sunglasses have a blue tint too, which plays on the shades in the overall look. For shoes I went for something different; these neutral tone loafers are great with this look just to add in a different colour. I reckon white would have been too obvious an option. I cannot tell you how comfortable these shoes are and with a cropped jean they will be a must have for your summer wardrobe. The little heel is great as flat-flats absolutely burn the heels off me. I like a bit of lift from the ground. I’m asked a lot about slip on loafers and how they stay on. Look for a style that comes up your foot; that creates the hold you need to walk. And this pair does just that.
My hair is super blonde at the moment which works with this look and it’s cooler tones. I think I’m gonna keep it this way for summer too, despite roots appearing every five minutes. But who said this was gonna be easy, huh?
All the pieces below are currently available in Penneys (Ireland) and Primark in the rest of Europe.
