You might have read my earlier post on how to style the Penneys pleated skirt, but in case you missed it, I’ve styled it a second way that works nicely for daytime wear. This mid length skirt is perfect for wearing with boots, and the pair I am wearing have gained a lot of comments on Instagram; they are so comfy too! And before I talk about how I styled the skirt this time, this Penneys military style jacket has been the most read blog of the year, so thank you loyal readers for that. I’d be nothing without you!
Now back to the skirt. Last time round, I went for an edgy look that works for night time. Today, it’s about Sunday style. It’s the time of year when lot’s of lovely Sunday lunch and afternoon tea invitations roll in and it’s nice to have some outfits that work for those. Taking the pleated skirt and styling it with another metallic might seem a little too “Christmas decoration” to some, but I love it. The two slightly different shades of metallic thread balance nicely. This turtle neck jumper is a favourite of mine at the moment, it looks as good with some skinny cropped jeans as it does with a dressy skirt like this one. Now, since it was chilly shooting this I didn’t take the coat off, but the jumper does have cut outs on the shoulder, so it will work for those early days of Spring. We can expect metallics to hang around for next season so don’t throw any of your pieces away!
When choosing a coat for this kind of skirt, opt for one that has a little length. Then you need some heels to balance it. This coat works so well over a midi length (you may have noticed this when I styled it over the slip dress last week too). But all in all, the pleated skirt is not just for evenings; it’s so much more versatile.
And fear not, we are not done with our fill of amazing pieces from Penneys just yet, there are some more to come before Christmas!
