How To Style Animal Print, Part Two.

Up until this season I was never really a fan of animal print. It somewhat reminded me of Bette in Coronation Street, and I just couldn’t bring myself to wear it. But having since seen its glorious return to the catwalk via Givenchy, Calvin Klein and Bottega Veneta to namedrop, I’ve built up an affinity with it. I also recently got hold of an animal print jacket from Penneys (which will soon hit the stores) and I can’t stop wearing it. So there, I am officially an animal print lover.

There are a couple of guidelines to help you figure out how to wear it, which I have figured out through experimenting with it. Firstly, if you are not fond of the full look, then try an accessory like a scarf, sunglasses or even a phone case like the one above from Stella McCartney. Secondly, keep the print to just one piece. I really like the idea of styling a skirt with a chunky knit or a leather jacket to mix up the textures. There are also some really nice, more subtle pieces; check out the fit and flares skirt from Coast which is black and cream rather than the traditional hues. It’s a classic shape mixed with a trendy print. If you like wearing dark colours, or even block colours, spice up the look with an animal print shoe. I adore these ones from Topshop which should get through the season and beyond!

What do you think of the animal print trend? Like or loathe?
