Penneys Animal Print Coat

You know I have never been a massive fan of animal print but I got this Penneys animal print coat during the week and I think it’s changing my mind. Firstly, it’s not too tailored; I like how it falls and that it’s not fitted. I think that’s why I’ve never liked the combination of prints and coats but the more relaxed fit makes this more flattering. And secondly, it has pockets! I have been wearing dress coats a lot lately and NONE have pockets. Yay, for this Penneys!

I have been at home visiting my parents and the outside of their house makes for a great outfit post backdrop. My mum is also fairly good at the old pics, so cheers mum for taking these, even if you were freezing. The jacket is definitely more of a statement so I styled it with a chunky knit, which honestly could definitely pass for an Aran sweater.

The long Autumn evenings are drawing in, and the sun is low in the sky so I’ve been keeping my sunglasses on for just a few more weeks (until the hour changes and we are back to darkness). But let’s talk about these shoes for a second. At London Fashion Week I noticed Alexa Chung wearing some YSL platform sandals with black socks and cropped jeans, and I just had to try this out. I picked up these black velvet sandals also in Penneys and kept my old reliable black socks on with them today. OK, so these socks could be a bit snazzier, so I’ve also got some fish net ankle socks to swap for evening time. The thing about black socks is that they fade the second they go in the wash. I also have a feeling that these socks are also odd. Whoops.

I’m also loving belts at the moment and this larger width style with circle buckle was a great buy at just €5! It keeps my jeans in place; I am constantly pulling up my jeans so belts are my first accessory from now on. I’m also copying Olivia Palermo with the sweater styling here; she tends to just tuck in one side of her tops and sweaters to create just a bit of definition, but all the while maintaining a chilled out aesthetic.

Just in case you want to get your hands on the above, the jacket will be landing at Penneys and Primark really soon! The shoes, jeans and jumper are all in store now.
