Daisy Knights is a force to be reckoned with in the world of fashion. Having made her first piece of jewellery at the age of 11, she has fast become one of the UK’s most coveted designers with her pieces being featured in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Grazia. I caught up with Daisy to talk personal style, her dislike of legging waistbands and how her stylish friends are a true source of inspiration.
Describe your style in less 140 characters!
Comfortable and laid back but with a rock n roll edge.
Tell us about your business and what led you to the world of Jewellery.
My father taught me how to make jewellery, he did it as a hobby when he was at university. The moment I made my first ring with him I knew I was going to be a jewellery designer.
Have you any favourite pieces?
My feather ring, this was one of the first things I designed and its still one of my most recognizable pieces.
Where do you get your inspiration?
I get it from everywhere, museums, while im surfing, magazines, books. I always have a sketch book on me so that I can record anything that I think or need to sketch.
Have you a muse?
No, but I do design with what my super stylish friends and I would wear in mind.
Who do you admire in the world of fashion?
Matthew Williamson, I love his brand, its so strong and he has such a signature style. He make every single woman feel beautiful when they wear his dresses.
Setting up a business is hard work, any advice to give to someone who is thinking of following in your footsteps?
Let your business grow organically and don’t take on more than you can handle. Its better to say no to opportunities rather than fail to deliver. Always keep communication channels open, don’t bury your head in the sand.
If you could have any piece of jewellery in your possession what would it be?
I have it! My husband gave me the most amazing art deco engagement ring which belonged to his great grandmother, its stunning and so special to me.
Any fashion pet hates?
Leggings when you can see the waist band. I don’t mind leggings if the top is long enough to cover your bum.
Whose style do you admire?
My friend Tallulah Harlech, she literally wears whatever she wants and looks great, she is so confident. The other day she was wearing the shorts we had to wear for gym class at school with heals and a checked shirt, it was a ridiculous idea on paper, but looked great on her.
