I got to walk the red carpet!

I’m pretty crazy about my films. Not so much a film nerd, but I am fascinated by the world of the motion picture, and some day (I’m toying with doing it this year) I will make my own short film. Let’s see how 2012 goes first! And so I was delighted to be asked to the anniversary celebrations and launch of this year’s Jameson Dublin International Film Festival which runs from the 16th February for 11 whole days!  The selection of films to see is phenomenal, with the best of Irish and International talent on show. The most wonderful aspect of this festival is the platform it gives to new film makers to show their abilities and for the film press and glitterati to take stock of the high standard of film our little country can offer. Thankfully, the recessionary times are no barrier for great movie-making and being at the event on Thursday, inspired confidence in me that the interest in film in Ireland is alive and well.

Amy Huberman

The festival was launched by our very own Amy Huberman and Swedish actor and icon Stellan Skarsgård who both represent their craft so beautifully.

Highlights of the 2012 programme were revealed on the night, with special guests confirmed to attend the Festival in February including Al Pacino (Wilde Salomé), Glenn Close (Albert Nobbs), Mark Wahlberg (Contraband), Martin Sheen (Stella Days), Michael Madsen (Jameson Cult Film Club screening of Resevoir Dogs), Kenneth Lonergan (Margaret), Whit Stillman (Damsels in Distress), Marjane Satrapi (Chicken With Plums) and Agnieszka Holland (In Darkness).
