Yep it’s the hashtag to make yourselves familiar with over the next week or so. It’s HMBALMAINATION time. Yes the eagerly anticipated and mostly hyped collaboration the brand has ever done is set to hit the shop floors on November 5th. With this supermodel gang, Olivier Rousteing is definitely one of the most popular creative directors in town. The designer has etched the Balmain stamp all over this collection with it’s intricate beading work, structured silhouette and military inspired aesthetic.
The collection definitely has one of the highest price points of the collaborations to date, but I can see why. The detail, the design and the pure essence of Balmain is all over this. You are essentially getting a piece of the real thing, just about. One of my favourite pieces is the woven black dress whole “twine” and rope detail is flattering and a perfect hour glass piece. The long line blazer, as seen on Alexa Chung at the New York event is top of my list, alongside the velvet single breast blazer. You just can’t go wrong with a selection of blazers in your wardrobe. I own at least one piece from every designer project have ever done over their 11 years of this work and I cannot fault them on their execution of such a mammoth undertaking.
If you are on the lookout for your Christmas party outfit then there is no shortage of sequins or embellishment. The hottest piece in the collection has to be the green sequin mini dress as seen on Kendall Jenner in the official campaign imagery. Although my award for the best piece in the collection is the beaded blazer which, hands down, is my favourite piece of the entire season and not just this sole collection. I’ll just have to raid the piggy bank to get it.
The collection comes to H&M College Green on November 5th. Start queuing now.
