It’s time to smell Spring I say and there are some amazing fragrances out there for you to add to your dressing table. I have a perfume obsession and I love reviewing them for my blog. It’s taught me the scents I like and dislike and how to distinguish between the varying notes. This January I am trying to incorporate some floral notes into my fragrances. So to give you an idea of what’s to come, here are some of my favourites so far this year.
Katy Perry Spring Reign
This sweet and feminine just like its namesake. Pink freesia and violet petals start you off which then warms up on the nose with gardenia and may flower. It’s a lovely romantic fragrance from Katy Perry (I’ve loved her previous ones too!) and I particularly like the bottom note of cedarwood which is nice and subtle. This one lands next month just in time for Valentine’s Day! And it’s a great price of just €19.99/£17.99 for 30ml. The box is nice too!
Maison Martin Margiela
There is a nice selection from the Margiela range of fragrances and I really love the clinical packaging it comes in too, probably channeling the design ethos of this iconic fashion house. “Replica Promenate in the Gardens” is a fabulous Spring scent that’s light and fresh. “Replica Beach Walk” is one I’ll be packing for the summer hols and “Replica Lazy Sunday Morning” is well….relaxed and scentuous as only a Margiela fragrance seems to achieve. These ones start at €75 for 1ooml and are exclusive to Brown Thomas.
Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb
The classic fragrance of my early twenties I fell for this one immediately. I remember the first time I bought en route to London to visit a friend once I had finished my accountancy exams (and passed) and I just had to get it. It reminds me of that time every time I smell it. It’s nostalgic for me, so it will remain a firm favourite. It retails at €65 for 30ml
When creating Emporio Armani Diamonds, Giorgio Armani had the Emporio Armani woman in mind; a woman who could be strong, confident, feminine and very sexy, a symbol of the 21st century, someone who is living her life like a fascinating current event. When he chose the name diamonds, he meant a symbol of audacity, of sexiness with elegance and desirability, reflecting the sparkle, brilliance ad strength of this irresistible stone. Now if you happen to buy this one from end of January you will receive a lovely gift of an Armani fragrances clutch. I have it, it’s very cute! This one is €54 for 50ml.
One for the boys…Lancôme Hypnose Homme
Gosh if you smell a boy wearing this you instantly turn to putty. It’s magical. And there’s something incredibly magnetic about this men’s fragrance. When I first smelled it, I thought I was sniffing a Hollywood Film actor in a crisp tux ready to take the red carpet…sorry day dreaming there. Back to my kitchen..you get the jist. €50 for 50ml.
