I have wanted to take part in something like this for a while, and I was delighted to be asked by The Irish Heart Foundation to take part in it’s On The Dry campaign for January. It’s exactly what it says on the tin, abstaining from alcohol for the month of January. Now, I am not a big drinker, but those sociable glasses of wine with friends, or the odd one in front of the telly will go on hold for a month. It’s such a great initiative and this week I was helping to promote it. The campaign will encourage people to quit alcohol and Stay In, Stay Dry for January. But fear not, the Irish Heart Foundation will be giving tips and suggestions on how to create great nights in and great days out; keeping you motivated along the way while raising much need funds for the charity.
The Irish Heart Foundation is Ireland’s number one national charity dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke, the biggest cause of death in this country. 93% of the Irish Heart Foundation’s funding comes from the public –companies, community groups, volunteers and individual supporters taking part in events or campaigns like On the Dry, where funds go directly into fighting heart disease and stroke. There really is power in numbers and working together we can change the landscape of heart disease and stroke in Ireland. We’re calling on you and your peers; men and woman across Ireland to help the Irish Heart Foundation keep Irish heart’s beating!
