It’s the end of August, I’m sorry to have to break it to anyone who is returning to an academic institution this Autumn. Being off college and school was always the most wonderful feeling, even though for some weird reason I LOVED studying. Now, it still projects benefits upon me, like, less traffic driving to work! I do miss college and I enjoyed the preparation for going back. Mum always bought me new clothes and I went to town in stationary shops. The first day of college was always a stylish one. Whether you had been on a J1 visa to the US and were kitted in A&F head to toe, or you stayed here working and had decked yourself in the latest high street offerings, everyone was wearing their new “things”. To get you in the spirit for the new academic year, I’ve picked a few “college” inspired looks for you to peruse!
The parka This reminds me of dancing to Supergrass at the Trinity Ball in 2002. I was in a ball gown and was keeping cosy under a big green parka belonging to my friend. Some trends never die, and I think this is a 2012 must have! (Parka from Fat Face)
The boot I lived in boots in college. They had everything you needed in a shoe: comfy and very cool. Make this an investment for the entire year, and trust me these will get you through a festival as well next summer!
The bag I love a good satchel. And I love this purple one even more. Bags are a great way to experiment with colour and by opting for something bright and fun like this one…well let’s say your school books will never look cooler! (a.su.co.uk, £59.99)
The skirt Skater skirts are everywhere this season and choice is not a problem. Black is your best bet as it will match everything in your wardrobe, along with the aforementioned parka and boots! I love this whole look from Penneys!
The dress A dress is a great piece to have in your wardrobe and I just love pinafores. Try wearing one with a polo neck or blouse underneath for a really cute and girlie look. (Dress from Yumi) Building your look for the new college year is all up to you. Remember Autumn Winter is fast approaching and there are so many trends to experiment with!
