Christmas time at Karen Millen

Did you know that it’s only 74 sleeps until Christmas? I know; I can hear your thoughts on how we haven’t had Halloween or the last bank holiday of the year. Well nevertheless, the press are busy looking at pre-Christmas collections so by the time it comes round for you to make the all important purchase of The Christmas Party showstopper dress to make all the boys in the office stop, stare and drool, we will have put together the favourites from the tour of the high street. Can I make one small recommendation? YOU HAVE TO CHECK OUT KAREN MILLEN. This morning I got a sneak peek of what is to come and I got to say, WOWZA (I know I am making up words here but that’s the joy of blogging!).

Karen Millen Christmas Collection 2011

Staying with this season’s super-trend of glamour, the collection embodies the best of feminine dressing – luxe looks, rich colour and luxurious fabrics and textures. Dresses fuse colours like burgundy, teal and the all important black, with details like pleats, ruffles and rushing. Jackets range from the staple Karen Millen structured and belted coat (in a range of lovely colours) to biker leather jackets. And keeping with a masculine theme, the casual looks take tailoring to a sophisticated level, with pencil skirts, waistcoats and cigarette pants. The overall feel is that this label, at the upper end of the high street, has kept the structure that we love, but made it leaner creating a beautiful silhouette for all shapes. Chatting with Irish Tatler Commerical Director, Serena Lawlor, we agreed that Karen Millen has got it right. “I love the colours for the season, the structured look and the fun element of the snake skin”, explains Serena while I sip on my coffee and take in how eye catching the whole collection looks. And yes, the snake skin shoes are to die for.

And just to note that the 60s trend has not gone amiss here either, the shift dress is a Winter winner.
