I’m very lucky that I get to work with such amazing brands, and one such brand is Christian Louboutin. From shoes to bags and beauty, the Louboutin empire is my long time collaboration partner. Christian always stays loyal to the classic designs he knows women want; an approach I admire. One such classic design is the Paloma tote bag. You might have seen my shoot with the SS17 Paloma, and for the new season, we are getting a little bit darker. And I am totally ok with that. The new Christian Louboutin Paloma in black is part of the “Follow The Red Line” collection, based on lug-sole men’s and women’s shoe styles. Shoes show a flash of red forming a line around the base , and the Paloma Ultra Black bag complements this with flashes of red on the side.
Red is the signature as we all know thanks to those famous soles, and now the story carries on throughout the new season’s collection. You can even match your nails and lips to the shade if you like too!
I’ve styled my shoes and bag so that they stand out. At the moment I am completely inspired by some of Europe’s most loved instagrammers such as Veronika Heillbrunner, Caroline Daur and Lena La Demann who all use accessories to empower their outfits. There is always one or two statement pieces that draw your eyes in and I love that. I shot this look in Dublin’s Temple Bar that is full of small, dark, cobbled streets. In some parts, it has a Parisien aesthetic with old brickwork and large double doors on more mature buildings like The Irish Stock Exchange where we based this shoot. I’ve tired of white, over exposed images on Instagram so I want to make everything edgier. The black tones can still be seen, but we have a mood. And that mood is elegant, but urban.
But back to beauty for a paragraph, I was backstage with the team at the Roland Mouret and David Koma shows at London Fashion Week to get an insight into SS18 beauty trends. I love how nails will become pared back, with blush and nude tones used to flatter next seasons clothing trends. Shoes were also featured, with custom made footwear used alongside the designer’s collections. David Koma’s boxing-boot inspired shoes were a perfect match for his take on dressy athleisure, while Roland Mouret went for kitten heels, ankle straps and woven leather in darker tones.
The Christian Louboutin Paloma bag and shoes are available online and at Brown Thomas Dublin.
