L’Oreal Colour Trophy

L’Oreal Colour Trophy

So you know the Oscars right? Well last night I was at them. Well not the real ones, the Hair ones, aka the L’Oreal Colour Trophy, the be all and end all of the hair world. Any hairdresser aspires to winning one of these accolades bestowed on them by judges including Sir Trevor Sorbie, who was sitting opposite me last night. On the front row with the best in the house, the best colourists in the country showcased their best…

Say hi to the fringe.

Say hi to the fringe.

It’s been about two months since I went for the chop, (in case you didn’t read the last post you can read it here) it was about time for an update and a little blonde for good measure. As with every time I pop over to Hession’s who take care of my locks, I thoroughly enjoy the experience, from Laura’s smiley welcome and chats the minute you walk in the door, to the infinite TLC my hair gets from Tara…

A little retro beauty.

A little retro beauty.

I had a wedding on Saturday and thought I would try and recreate a more vintage inspired look. By rolling my hair into a low bun, and back combing the front section and securing with bobby pins, it looked quite classic I think! And it only took about five minutes to do! And of course, there had to be a make up look to match!   Foundation, Georgio Armani Eye shadow, Urban Decay Naked Palette Mascara, Benefit, They’re Real Blush,…

Tried and tested: Laser Hair Removal, Part One.

I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to beauty I have to say. I don’t like pain unless its going to make me look like Gisele. but when I got the opportunity to review laser hair removal at Urbana I couldn’t say no. But first things first, I had to make sure my skin was ok with the idea of being hairless. Owner of Urbana, Paula Cuddihy took me through the whole process and did a patch test on…

Choppy Hair with a GHD!

Choppy Hair with a GHD!

Finding ways to style my new hair is a lot of fun, and yesterday I tried out some waves with a GHD. Now this is a skill in itself, by clamping the tool down on a small section of hair (sprayed with a curling product) and turning it 180 degrees while pulling down the tool over the length of the strand. See, GHD curls are complicated. I didn’t really want ringlets per se, just waves that I could mess up.

Wellness & Radiance Ritual anyone? Eh, yes please.

Wellness & Radiance Ritual anyone? Eh, yes please.

There are perks to my job, and then there are perks to my job, in that even though I am chained to a desk or the seat of a plane most of the week, when I am writing about something, I usually get to experience it. It’s been two weeks since I hopped on a packed train on a Friday evening to Westport, alongside more stag parties than I care to count, to Knockranny House Hotel. I had only been to Westport…

Concert beauty.

I’m going to see Haim tonight with a friend and it’s been a really long time since I went to a small gig. From experience comfort is my number one priority, so this evening I am in a pair of super comfy high tops. But as for my make up, well I felt like something dramatic! First up, I tried a plum colour and coupled with dark eyes, it was really, well, a bit much. See below: So I went…
