styleisle-icon – February 2011

This month’s styleisle-con is the fabulous Clodagh O’Hagan who owns Dublin PR agency, Blink PR! Where do you like to shop? Depends on the occasion but for a cheeky mid week shop I would go to TopShop or BT2.  I’ve recently discovered Couture in Powerscourt Townhouse Centre where I bought an amazing little black jersey dress perfect dressing up or down.   I also a big fan of online shopping. Describe your style! I’m don’t like too much fuss.  I pretty…

styleisle fashion find – February 2011

Awear’s new collection for the Spring encompasses two essential things I love to see in a collection: fluidity with it’s (kind of)antithesis, texture. Light fabrics in hues like dusty charcoal, roughed up peach and a few prints thrown in for good measure, the collection is pleasing to look at, and devine to wear. The collection, aptly titled “Chic Safari” is just that. Animal inspired and stylish. Think a mix of Kristen Scott Thomas in The English Patient and a lady…

This month got to talk to Michelle Jones, owner of www.style-tonic.ie, an online business which I have admired since it’s inception. Providing online access to some of the country’s best boutiques and designers, I wanted to know all about the latest web-shop! 1) Tell me about your background and what the catalyst was for setting up style-tonic? My own career background is in marketing and I’ve studied both traditional and digital / online marketing.  I am fascinated by digital and…

styleisle fashion find Jan 2011 – Monsoon

Wanna get ready for Spring? Well my pick to get your wardrobe started is this great red dress from Monsoon! For SS11, Monsoon has taken inspiration for its Bloom collection from the ladylike and feminine dress of the early 1950’s. This red floral pleated dress in printed chiffon will add instant glamour for a night out and can be taken right through to the Summer for garden parties and even into work!

This month’s styleisle-con is Andrea Kelly! Where do you like to shop? I tend to stick to boutiques when shopping. I prefer the ranges that boutiques have to offer. I am spoilt for choice in Co. Kildare where I am from with some fabulous boutiques in Newbridge, Naas and Kilcullen. I also lived in Waterford for a number of years and have a few favourite boutiques there which I still visit. I don’t shop much in the high street but…

styleisle file January 2011 – Sinead Doyle

This month I chat with Irish designer, Sinead Doyle about life in fashion and what it takes to set up your own label! Tell us about your journey in fashion and how you set up your label. I studied fashion at Limerick School of Art and Design. Originally I wanted to get into costume design and then found I had a knack for menswear which is what I specialised in when I did my Masters degree in London. I won…

styleisle archive – December 2010

his year has been one whirlwind for and for fashion in general. As a way to conclude on the very stylish year it was, I have collated some of the quotes from all my interviews since January 2010.  “Once in a while there will be a piece that does literally take your breath away, and makes you gasp out loud! It’s lovely to see customers in turn have the same reaction when they come across such pieces in the collection.…

This month, I chat to new designer, Amanda Grogan about her plans for the future and winning the Milan Fashion Award! What inired you to get into fashion design? I wasn’t the sort of designer that was looking through old Vogues when I was a child. I was always doing art- I decorated everything I could. I was such an ambitious kid, I thought there was nothing I couldn’t make, I tried to make tables and chairs… anything you can…

styleisle archive – October 2010

I tried out the fashion chit chat for the first time back in May with some of my friends who are well established in the industry in Ireland. As it was such a success, I took it a step further and asked four ladies for whom I have the utmost respect to come along and do the whole thing over again. In amongst the cool kids of the South William St set, at Dakota, the gaggle of giggling ladies, took…
