Brown Thomas Spring Summer 2015

Brown Thomas SS Details in Title

It’s a show that we fashion media count down to every season; the crux of the Irish fashion calendar and the one that inspires our seasons. It’s an early start for some (not me, I like my 630am wake up time, it’s my favourite time of the day) and this year Brown Thomas Spring Summer 2015 was something to wake up for. A cold, bitter, windy day in Dublin was not preventing a new season from shining though the clouds; trends awash with colour and infused with a tang of excitement. We all want brighter evenings, lamenting in the sunshine when we can express our season vicariously through our style. Sigh. Can it just be summer now? Please? But seriously, what can we expect?

Brown Thomas’ trendsmap is one that emanates the strongest and most prominent aspects of 2015. 1970s Renaissance, Sports Glam, Victorian Values, Mid Century modern, and Bloom Bloom combined to create one eclectic yet aligned new season buy. The edit of pieces shown illustrates BTs innate ability to buy in what Irish women want from collections, including those which can be a little hard to interpret in the real world.

Aside from the the showcase, my own eye caught some sub-trends which I think will be the making of the retailer this season. Stripes are a must have with Dries Van Noten, CĂ©line and Stella McCartney realising the potential of this contemporary pattern. Stella is also championing denim this Spring, so watch out for the array of jeans, jackets and jumpsuits to come! In line with Bloom Bloom is the staple floral; my favourites being from Dior, Marni and an amazing print shirt from Givenchy. We’ll see plenty of the kimono from Victoria Beckham, The Row and Isabel Marant incorporating an oriental emblem. White is a plenty (which I am sure you have read about) and I particularly love what Osman has for Spring Summer (I was at that show in London last September and loved it then and love it more now). Monochrome is not really a trend anymore and returns once again from Erdem, Oscar de la Renta and David Koma. And not to forget the colour palate; pink is popular and both Dior and Victoria Beckham are fans for 2015. My stand out collectons? Definitely Dior. All of it. Every last drop.
