So, one of our favourite retail giants, Brown Thomas are at it again! At what I hear you ask?, well don’t worry I will explain. They have just announced the return of Irish Designers CREATE! Now if you are new to this fabulous showcase don’t worry, I will explain. Brown Thomas CREATE is all about celebrating fresh new Irish designers as well as some more well known names. From accessories to graphic prints to ready-to-wear, it has everything a fashion lover craves! This amazing affair is in it’s forth year and has proven to be a HUGE success, by making it a reality for our native names to be seen in the same surroundings as other world renowned luxury brands. But what is really fantastic about this experience is that it brings our designers closer to that commercial business dream!
The lucky designers who’s dreams are soon to come true are Helen Cody, Celine Magill and Emma McKay, who all create ready-to-wear garments. Along side these three ladies will be jewellery designers Blaithin Ennis and Fiona Mulholland. Last but certainly not least of the newcomers is textile designer, Sinéad Kennedy, who will be showing a unique sculpture at the showcase. Then, as well as well as our ‘newbies’ we have returning designers Rebecca Marsden, Derek Lawlor, Honor Fitzsimons, Sean Byrne and Keira and Darina Kennedy with KDK ready-to-wear and accessories. Along with jewellery designers Lisa Ryder and Mari Dorai Raj.
But that is not all, we are truly being spoiled rotten this year with an extraordinary exhibition by distinguished Irish designer, Richard Lewis. To celebrate 50 strong years in business, Richard will showcase forty specially made pieces for CREATE, alongside fourteen existing pieces. This is truthfully a treat, and shows how important this event is to have such a legend chose it as his platform for such a milestone.
The showcase since 2011, has proven it’s a massive success after designers like Heidi Higgins, Lucy Downes and Mark T Burke, to name a few, now have their collections in store. Brown Thomas CREATE opens on August 26th and lasts for just a month, I most certainly will be checking it out, will you?
