This week the country’s most famous department store, Brown Thomas, showcased it’s Autumn/Winter 2011 collections to the press. The focus was very much on work wear with lot’s of tailoring, coats, and not to mention the buzz word of the moment, glamour!
Colours trends included, black (of course), jewel tones like rich greens and purple, and plenty of red which adorned the catwalks of Londonn Fashion Week. Designers like Tom Ford, Gucci and Alexander McQueen, are sticking to what they know and their tradition styles. While new designer Victoria Beckham definitely pushed the boat out on her latest designs, which is nice to see, and is very refreshing from the lady who maintains sophistication as her style mantra.
New to Brown Thomas this is year is Rachel Zoe. Rachel is moving away from styling and into design and I have to say I loved it. Now the disappointing part is, not unlike VB, Rachel has designed a collection that is quinessentially her and very LA. The pieces however will be received well I imagine and I am dying to see the price points, especially on the beige wool cape style jacket.
My verdict, anyway is that the collections have been beautifully styled and thought out and will definitely promise a good season for the store.
Brown Thomas have stores in Dublin, Limerick and Cork.
