Down by the Thames riverside, in a historical building, namely Old Billingsgate on a blustery June afternoon, Belstaff treated us to a safari for their London Collections Menswear presentation. Sounds quite the combination right? Well it might have been a little oxymoronic in its setting, but it all worked just fine. Belstaff is one of my favourite labels for both mens and womens, but mens seems to have more oomph.
A crescent of models presented a spring summer collection that embodied the craftsmanship we associated with the brand, but made it look summery and light. I have this vision of the biker man when it comes to Belstaff so I was pleasantly surprised at the difference between this collection and the Autumn Winter 2015 one I saw in Westminster back in January.
Leather waistcoats styled over cream slim leg pants, the “biker jacket made in taupe linen and camou 3/4 length jackets over light weight basics. Models wore scarves around their necks and the grooming was perfectly undone. The palette was what I expect from them: cream, chocolate, khaki, taupe and camel to take on the new season.
The highlight, seeing Olivia Palermo’s husband, Johannes Heubl. In person.
