Ok I know it’s sunny outside, but we have to talk about Autumn Winter for a second. Trust me it’s worth it. This morning, I popped along to the most sophisticated press viewing of the new collection from Arnotts, Dublin for next season. At the moment I am struggling to talk about next season, given that Summer, well, it never really happened, so we might as well just skip to the next thing. The brands on offer at Arnotts make it a one stop destination for everyone, including M by Missoni, Peter O’Brien, Jaegar, Tara Jarmon and new to the designer floor for this season, Orla Kiely. I couldn’t tweet fast enough to show off the exquisite looks that came down the catwalk but I did have my favourites.
Orla Kiely is a big win for Arnotts, and having attended her presentations for Autumn Winter in London back in February I had a hunch that this was going to be good. Representing femininity like no one else can, Orla’s retro vibe draws me in, especially when my eyes got a glance at the mustard knit jumper and black devore shorts.
I mean, is this not the cutest Winter look, paired with black opaque tights and some flats? And just when it couldn’t get better, Vivienne Westwood Anglomania produced a stunning wool cape, that reinvents the whole “wear your jacket as a cape” look we saw on the front row at fashion week, except that this piece is actually functional as well as darn chic.
But to get a bit more glam we need not look further than M by Missoni, whose iconic knit prints, as I like to call them, mature into a fitted dress with black wool weaving, cinching in the waist and creating a very sexy silhouette. This dress is a great transition piece from warm August evenings through to the “cooler” months. Pun intended.
I could talk for days about the evening wear, the knits, the accessories (oh the accessories!) but this is just a snapshot of what’s to come from the iconic Dublin store, and some of my picks to add to your wardrobe.
