AUTUMN MAKEUP BUYS

I’ve been so delighted to be see a lot of new makeup products this season so far and I have to tell you, we are in for a treat. Whether you want a new foundation, a fancy eye palette, or a long stay lippie, I have found so many nice things. So to make it easier for you to find what you are looking for, I’ve broken this down into sections!

Primers

I’m never one to spend a fortune on primers; I’m usually of the thinking that a good moisturiser will do the job. But, this season has brought about change. Victoria Beckham x Estée Lauder has an excellent primer called Morning Aura to illuminate and hydrate the skin. I was so fortunate to meet VB in Dublin last week to hear about the new collection, and she said her motivation for this product, was do to with travelling. Getting off the plane and being photographed meant she wanted her skin to too its best and hence, Morning Aura was born.

A little more affordable is e.l.f. Poreless Face Primer which gives a nice even finish under foundation – and the best bit – it’s less than €10. You’re welcome.

Foundations

There has been so much talk of how great Fenty Beauty is and I have to say it’s all true. With 40 shades of foundation, matching to your skin tone has never been as easy. The foundation does give a matte finish, but with a good primer (see above) that gets sorted. Plus at €35, I think it’s good value for money as the consistency is light which means you get use less to cover your face. Another amazing foundation I’ve been using is NARS Sheer Glow. Now there is nothing new about this, but I’ve been using it a lot lately for TV and photoshoots and it’s simply excellent. It gives such a dewy finish and reduces the need for concealer.

Eye Palettes

Rimmel Magnifeyes

Ok back again to VBxEsteeLauder; I cannot tell you how amazing the eye palettes. The eye metals in “Gold Blonde” is a great highlighting shade for inner corners and under brows. It glides on easily and it stays put. The quad eye palette is hands down the best eye palette I’ve used all year. The colours are smouldering, but can be applied lightly for a day time look. Then up the glam factor by layering the soft black and bordeaux hues. I applied this with a blending brush to get a more decadent look for night time. A lovely alternative to this is Rimmel’s Magnif’eyes – Smoke edition. This comes with 12 colours – with an exceptionally good shimmering blue to add to your lash line. I reckon you can also use a wet brush on these to intensify the colour. NARS new collaboration with Man Ray is another one to add to your Christmas list. The two duo palettes – “Debauched” and “Montparnasse” also focus on dark berry shades that are buildable. Also check out the amazing packaging which comes as part of this limited edition range for the festive period.

Mascara

I am adding just one mascara to this round up and it’s rather fab. L’Oreal False Lash Wings has a rubber applicator that is angled to layer product on your lashes emphasising the outer edge. Hence, the winged effect. This goes on so easily and it lasts without transferring either. I really love this; even for days where you wear no make up, add this on to make your eyes stand out.

Blush & Highlight

To add some colour to your cheeks without looking flushed, I can highly recommend Clarins “Blush Prodige” in Soft Pink is lovely. I’ve been using this for a couple of weeks and it glides on without getting, what I call, “stuck” on one particular part of my cheeks which always happens. In terms of highlight, Wet n Wild’s megaglo stick is a great little product that is handbag friendly too. Simply draw on the parts of your face to highlight and blend in with your fingers. This has a pinky hue so it works well with the Clarin’s blusher too.

Lips

Another NARS launch is the lip lacquer in “Off Limits” and “Kiki” (pictured above) which are such intense colours for colder days. Another product from the Man Ray collection (the packaging on some of these is simply beautiful, with inspiration coming from visual artist Man Ray’s muses including Kiki de Montparnasse). Getting back to basics, if you are in your local pharmacy you’ll also notice a Vaseline collaboration with Lulu Guinness. Same old reliable lip product, but this time, very cute packaging.
