If I want anything from the Arnotts Autumn Winter 2014 show this morning it’s a new coat. From Goat to Orla Kiely to Pablo, I’ll have one of everything please. Like with all AW14 previews, the palette is getting darker and more chic I think than the season we are in. There is something a little more sophisticated about next season and the new collections at Arnotts are proof of that.
New label Pablo is incredibly impressive; it’s the younger sister brand of Gerard Darel focusing on separates and outerwear (unlike it’s older sister which is slightly more mature). Raoul will also hit the shop floor with its luxurious interpretation of affordable fashion. One particular favourite of mine is the monochrome coat and matching dress (see below).
The aesthetic from Arnotts is clean and simple, which in my view are the best recipe for an easy-to-style wardrobe come next season. The showstopper piece, a shearling coat from LK Bennett is set to be a winner (it’s only €1495) and a twitter favourite with the Irish fashion media in attendance. Casual is key and I love that the Arnotts womenswear buyers have taken this catwalk trend seriously. We need practical closets that work hard for us. Knitwear and coats are, obviously, key pieces but its how we style them that will rejuvenate an ever-returning trend.
